Õîä óðîêà:
I. Good afternoon! I’m glad to see you.
Today we’re going to start lesson 11 “Parties” as you can see it on the blackboard. It is the 14th of November, the topic is “Parties”.
Before we start answer my questions:
Now let’s do exercise 1. You can look at the screen. The keywords can help you. Put them down in your notebooks. If you don’t know the meaning consult your mini dictionaries.
Now read the task in exercise 2. You have 1 minute. Let’s listen to the tape and remember that you should understand the idea in general. Don’t panic if you can’t understand every word. You will listen twice. Before listening read the task.
Look at the screen, please. What can you see? These are modal verbs:
When do we use them? Don’t have=you don’t need to do that, should=advisable, must=strong obligation. Now listen to the radio programme and check your answers.
II.So now let’s speak! Prepare some advice for a foreign visitor who is invited to: a birthday party or a local or national festival or a wedding. Choose one option.
-Let’s read the dialogue in exercise 6.
-Think over for a while then match the expressions in exercise 7.
-Make up your own mini dialogues A: tell your partner about a celebration, B: congratulate your partner.
-Look at the screen. There is a quote from Jules Feiffer, an American cartoonist: “No one wants to be at the party he’s at; he wants to be at the party he’s missing”. Do you agree? What sort of parties do you prefer? Which not?
III. Let’s write down your homework: LPB p.30 ex. 1-4.
IV. Thank you for your work. Some of you worked hard, some not but all of you did your best. Thank you. The lesson is over, you may go. Good bye.
